I was dead wrong about the 2024 White Sox. Where I saw hope, I should have seen darkness. Unfortunately for the White Sox, the bullpen totally underperformed this year. But that’s not all. Luis Robert Jr. was/is a joke, and the improvements defensively in the middle of the diamond were not enough to keep this team from being the worst team ever. There is so much bad to go around, but everyone else has already talked about that.
The good news: The ballpark was still great this year, as it always is. I probably went to 60 games and despite the losing record, there is some young talent in the organization that enjoys playing baseball making the fan experience awesome. While I did my best to highlight the disfunction in the locker room in 2023 (Tim Anderson, Yazmani, Lance Lynn) etc.), this offseason offers some hope of a younger future.
With that said, the year is almost over. We have two games left against the playoff Tigers. Let’s rebuild our 2025 White Sox!
It goes without saying we will have a new manager, pitching coach, and hitting coach. Seriously, if Ethan Katz is back again, that is when I will officially throw in the towel as a fan.
Into the Bullpen
- Pitching:
- Crochet (SP)
- Cannon (SP)
- Thorpe (SP)
- Schultz (SP)
- Smith (SP)
- Iriarte (RP)
- Nastrini (RP)
- Eder (RP)
- Berroa (RP)
- De Los Santos (RP)
- Schuster (RP)
- Soroka (RP)
- Sewald (CP)
This is going to be a pretty young pitching core. The biggest obstacle is velocity from this crew. What we have seen in recent history though is Ethan Katz effectively lose 2-3 mph off of every pitcher entering the majors from their velocity in the minors. Hopefully, the new coach gets velocity back up and we can see some pretty devastating stuff, especially from the southpaws. Paul Sewald is the ole veteran we are going to sign to keep the bullpen together and drop some wisdom on the young pitchers.
On the Field
- Benintendi (LF)
- Bregman (3B)
- Butler (RF)
- Walker (1B)
- Robert Jr. (CF)…with his shortfalls at the plate, his trade value is at an all time low currently
- Lee (C)
- Lopez (2B)
- Amaya (SS)
- Sheets (1B)
- Sosa (INF)
- Ramos (INF)
- Fletcher (OF)
- Quero (C)
Did I forget to mention that Michael Jordan becomes an owner this off season? He does, and we don’t pick up the Moncada offer. Instead, we go out and we spend some money on Bregman. MJ knows you need to spend money to make money. Bregman is going to be the most important piece to the rebuild.
That isn’t all. Look across the diamond to first base. Where is Andrew Vaughn? What about Colson? Gone. We sign Christian Walker in FA and trade Vaughn/Colson to the Oakland/Vegas Athletics in return for Lawrence Butler. It’s a steal.
The 2024 Sox team knocked me down from writing. I’ll be back with more. Stay tuned and feel free to let me know your thoughts.

All hail our new owner MJ!
Robert had to go Dylan. I can’t watch pathetic again for 6 months. I think Sean Burke talked his way into this conversation as well.
Bring on the BP heat!
