What will the White Sox do in 2024?

My prediction for the 2024 White Sox season is a complete turnaround from 2023. No, I am not saying this team will win 100 games or even make the playoffs. But the brand of baseball that is going to put on the field will be different. The front office was drastically overhauled and drove this change.

The Sox are going to win 80 games. Find your favorite betting app, and book it. The Sox acquired Paul DeJong and Nicky Lopez to shore up the middle infield which legitimately lost them games last year. Are these superstars? No, but they are solid middle infielders that don’t double as locker room cancers (not you Elvis).

The same goes for the catcher position. Regardless of who is behind the dish, it will be a defensive upgrade from Yaz. Pedro (also in a make or break year) has openly stated that all he cares about is defense from his catchers. Whoever is catching will hit 9th and we will pray for a hit. We batted Yaz in the middle of the lineup last year and did the same thing.

The biggest problem that the White Sox will need to overcome this year is pitching. Strictly from a talent and depth perspective. Dylan Cease is the best arm in the rotation and his ratio of slider-fastball continues to boggle my mind. At some point he will need to throw the fastball to set up the slider.

Again, I didn’t say we were winning 100 games, but with a few good starts, and without beating ourselves defensively, this could be a comeback year on the Southside. When you look at the names below, it doesn’t scream rebuild.

New leadership, new energy, new season. Here we go!

  1. Andrew Benintendi (L)
  2. Yo-yo (S)
  3. Luis Robert  (R)
  4. Eloy Jimenez (R)
  5. Andrew Vaughn (R)
  6. Nicky Lopez (L)
  7. Paul DeJong (R)
  8. Dominic Fletcher (L)
  9. Catcher

Bench: Moustakas, Second catcher, Sheets
