White Sox 2023 Bench

The white sox 2023 bench. I love it.

Gavin Sheets, Romy Gonzalez, Hanser Alberto, and Seby Zavala. This is a roster built purely on flexibility.

Gavin Sheets proved last year that he is not just a first baseman, but a pure baseball player. Put him wherever, and he will learn. I can’t say the same happened for Andrew Vaughn, but he earned his starting spot at 1B during all of his baseball time pre-2022.

Gavin can play 1B, LF, RF, and of course a suitable DH vs any RHP.

During his stint in Chicago last year Romy Gonzalez made tons of plays at 2B for us. This spring he has proven he can also play 2B. In college he was a great outfielder. What can’t he do? Probably catch or 1B. Readers me hate me for this, but he is a more powerful and athletic Leury Garcia.

Romy plays: 2B, SS, CF, LF, RF.

Hanser Alberto is a career middle infielder. While our backup shortstop is playing 2B on a daily basis, they will need breaks, short IL stints, etc. Enter Hanser. Veteran experience that will be key in a  young locker room with a  manager looking to build a system.

Hanser plays: 2B, SS, 3B

Seby Zavala makes our life easy as fans. He is our best backup catcher. That is all. That is the tweet. Yaz is old and will need days off. We can’t spend millions on a backup. I miss Reese McGuire and his baseball instincts, but Seby will get the job done.

Seby plays: C

Play ball!
